Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck removes excess fat, skin and repairs the muscle gap that often occurs after pregnancy (rectus diastasis). Liposuction can be performed around the mid-section at the same time, and the result of tightening the muscles and removing excess fat and skin can narrow the waistline while giving a flatter and tighter abdominal contour. The resultant scar is typically imperceptible, with an incision around the belly button, and a low incision that hides well beneath underwear or a bikini.

Some women choose to save the liposuctioned fat and have it re-injected to augment the thighs or buttocks region for a more dramatic change in contour. This is known as a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)
