Dr Jeffry WuDr. Jeffrey Wu has joined the Plastic Surgery Institute of New Mexico after spending the previous nine years at the University of New Mexico. During his time there, Dr. Wu specialized in aesthetic breast reconstruction. Through his dedication to restoring confidence and quality of life for women afflicted with breast cancer, he developed a reputation for thoughtful, empathetic care. As a reconstructive surgeon, driven to achieve excellent results, he built a state-of-the-art practice for women of New Mexico. At the University of New Mexico, Dr. Wu provides education and hands-on training to future plastic surgeons, which requires constantly staying on the cutting edge of plastic surgery techniques.

Dr. Wu attended Cornell University to complete his pre-medical studies and graduated with a double major in biology and chemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Connecticut. From there, he received an extensive and rigorous surgical training by completing a general surgery residency at the University of Connecticut and plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Wu has double board-certifications from the American Board of Surgery and American Board of Plastic Surgery. Subsequently, Dr. Wu pursued advanced training in aesthetic surgery and completed an American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS)-endorsed fellowship at the Bitar Cosmetic Surgery Institute. The ASAPS accreditation ensures complete training in assessment, management, and execution of all aesthetic surgery procedures.

Dr. Wu’s philosophy is to recognize and value each patient’s unique concerns and to devise a personalized plan to meet those needs. Part of that includes focusing on patient education. His consultations are never rushed. Dr. Wu believes in thoughtful discussion to understand each patient’s aesthetic goals, combined with the careful consideration of multiple options, to ultimately decide the best and safest surgical plan. He wants his patients to feel not only comfortable but also educated about the important decisions they are about to make.
