Liposuction is one of the most commonly performed procedures. It is a very effective procedure to improve body contour. The most common areas to benefit from liposuction are lower abdomen, flanks (“love handles”), hips, thighs and neck. The procedures can be performed under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the individual and the area of surgery.
Liposuction Abdomen and Flanks Case 30226
Age: 29
Note: This patient came in with concerns of extra fat in her midsection. She chose to undergo 360 liposuction to improve her body shape and leanness. Note her thinner, narrower and flatter abdomen and waistline with new curves and a more athletic look after surgery. Her skin contracted well as she had not had children. This patient also had a breast reduction to be smaller and to improve symmetry. Her scars have not matured and will fade over months to years.
Liposuction Arms Case 30225
Age: 37
Note: This patient desired a thinner and more toned arm. We discussed arm lift versus arm lipo and she chose to have arm lipo alone. Note that she contracted very well and has a more defined and narrowed arm several months after lipo alone.
Liposuction Case 30202
Age: 29
Note: This patient came in with goals to get her pre-pregnancy body back. Her lateral and posterior photos are shown after 360 lipo of abdomen, flanks and upper back. This patient latera also had a tummy tuck.
Liposuction Arms Case 30205
Age: 45
Note: This patient desired thinner arms. While she did have some loose skin, and some extra fat, she decided to undergo just arm lipo with no arm lift to avoid having a scar. Her skin tightened relatively well and thinner arms are apparent with improved definition and she is much more comfortable in tight clothing. The slight looseness to skin she has near the armpit area was not worth trading for a long scar and she is focused on improving her tone with arm workouts.
Abdominoplasty with Liposuction Case 30197
Age: 45
Note: This patient came in with goals to get her pre-pregnancy body back after 5 C-sections. She underwent a staged 360 liposuction followed by a tummy tuck.
Notice an abdomen that is inches smaller in circumference, flat from the side view and with enhanced curves from the front and back views.
Liposuction Abdomen and Flanks Case 30188
Age: 37
Note: This patient came into the office after some typical mid-30s weight gain. She was looking for a more athletic, proportional and natural look. She underwent 360 liposuction as well as breast augmentation and liposuction of the arms.
Her 4-month photos show good skin contraction, a narrow waist and a more balanced chest and mid-section ratio.
Liposuction Abdomen and Flanks Case 30178
Age:34
Note: This patient came into the office after having children. She had gained some weight and was looking to get her pre-pregnancy body back. She underwent 360 liposuction with hopes her skin would contract well and she would not need a tummy tuck.
Her 4-month photos show good skin contraction, a narrow waist, and she will not need a tummy tuck. This patient also underwent fat grafting to the buttocks at the same time.
Liposuction Thighs Example Case 30112
Age:54
Note: This patient came into the office seeking smaller thighs. She had always felt they were too large in proportion to her fit midsection.
We discussed at length the limitations of liposuction in that it does not improve cellulite, and can leave behind some looser skin, especially in patients over 50. She reported she was fine with the contour as long as things were smaller in clothing.
She lost inches off each thigh with circumferential thigh liposuction and had excellent skin contraction. Notice in particular the new thigh gap.
Gynecomastia and Liposuction Case 30161
Age:44
Note: This gentleman had lost weight with diet and exercise, but still had some stubborn fatty deposits and some extra chest tissue. His goals were to have the tissue removed and have some liposuction of the most stubborn areas to keep his body transformation moving along.
Notice the thinner midsection, flatter chest, and that there are no scars on the areola as the glandular tissue was removed through the liposuction port sites.
Tighter clothes fit better and he is has lost inches of fat and is back in the gym doing all the things he wants to do.
Liposuction Abdomen and Flanks Case 30155
Age:54
Note: This patient came into the office after having gained some weight over the years and then stabilizing her weight, but still having some stubborn areas. She also had implants that were 20 years old and sitting too high. She wanted a more natural breast shape with new implants and liposuction of the midsection.
Notice the improvement in the midsection definition and the more natural breast shape, especially notable on the side and 45-degree views.
Arm Liposuction Case 30150
Age:40
Note:This patient came into the office seeking to improve her arm contour. She had a thick arm with some excess skin but mostly excess fat. Her results after circumferential arm liposuction are shown at 3 months.
This is an example of excellent skin contraction after liposuction alone. The patient went into the procedure prepared for some excess skin, but due to her good postoperative routine, and toning after surgery, she was able to have a good result without an arm lift.
Liposuction Thighs Example Case 30114
Age:33
Note: This patient came into the office seeking to improve her body proportions. She was at a happy and stable weight but felt she still had some thickness around her mid-section.
We did discuss an aggressive liposuction and removing some lower abdominal skin to ensure tightness, but since she was planning to have children in a few years, she elected lipo alone.
Notice the flat abdomen from side and 45-degree views as well as new curves! She loves her new body and the way it looks in form-fitting clothing.
Liposuction Thighs Example Case 30113
Age:33
Note: This patient came into the office seeking to improve her body proportions. She was at a happy and stable weight but felt her thighs were too large compared to the rest of her body.
We discussed a relatively conservative liposuction of the circumferential thighs, focusing on problem areas, to decrease the chance of any skin irregularities.
Notice the decreased thickness in the front of the thigh and new thigh gap without any irregularity. Her body proportions are now to her liking with a completely natural result and inches off her thigh circumference.
Liposuction Example Case 30111
Age:61
Note: This patient came into the office to see if any improvement could be done to her abdomen. She had a tummy tuck previously and loved the results, but did gain some weight after menopause.
There was a long discussion about what fat can be removed with liposuction and what fat can not. She carried some fat beneath the skin that could be removed, but also some inside the abdomen in the 'visceral' location where only diet and exercise could improve it.
She also had some abdominal muscle weakness and a belly button that was off center. We discussed liposuction alone versus liposuction and a tummy tuck. Her goals were to be smaller in clothing, and she was willing to accept a less-flat abdomen for less recovery. She elected to have liposuction alone.
These photographs illustrate what can be done with just liposuction as well as the limitations. Her waistline is inches smaller after liposuction, though she does still have some fullness of fat inside the abdomen and some extra skin in the bra-line region.
Overall, she went into the operation knowing she would be smaller but would likely still have some irregularities, and her expectations were exceeded. She is thrilled with the improvement and can now do the extra work in the gym if she wants additional flattening.
Liposuction Abdomen and Flanks Case 30125
Age:22
Note: This woman was interested in thinning out her waistline and increasing her buttocks at the same time. 360 degree midsection liposuction was performed and the harvested fat was grafted to the buttocks in the form of a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
Liposuction Abdomen and Flanks Case 30122
Age:26
Note: This woman was interested in changing her body proportions by making her midsection smaller and making her buttocks larger. She underwent liposuction of the abdomen and flank region, with fat grafting of the buttocks in the form of a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
Liposuction of Abdomen and Flanks Example 30061
Age:38
Note: This patient wanted to get her pre-pregnancy body back after having children in the form of a Mommy Makeover.
She still had some residual fat deposits around the midsection and after a careful discussion regarding tummy tuck vs. liposuction, she elected to have liposuction of the abdomen and flanks with the understanding she could come back and have a tummy tuck if her skin did not 'snap back' like we hoped. She chose this option for a quicker recovery and no visible scar.
Notice her improved abdominal definition and slimmer and curvier waistline, especially from behind after liposuction.
This patient also underwent silicone breast augmentation with a lift as part of her Mommy Makeover.
Liposuction Example 30052
Age: 58
Note: This woman came in to discuss a plastic surgery operation that would alleviate her neck and back pain from having large breasts. She was also interested in improving her abdomen and flank contour as well as her inner thighs.
After a long discussion about the differences in results and recovery between liposuction alone vs. liposuction with a tummy tuck, she chose to have liposuction of the abdomen, flanks and inner thighs without a tummy tuck. This was with the understanding that her 'best' result would include a tummy tuck and a medial thigh lift, and that she could come back and do that if she ever wanted to.
Her skin did contract well in the regions of the hips, flanks and lateral chest in particular. She also improved her thigh gap and did decrease her waistline significantly. She loves her new curves, is back in a bikini, and decided to not have the tummy tuck or thigh lift after all. This is a good example of having a lesser operation than a tummy tuck, and still achieving a wonderful result.
Liposuction 30025
Age: 36
Note: This young man was in good physical shape but was quite troubled by his abdominal fatty deposit despite an extensive exercise routine. He underwent abdominal liposuction with tumescent technique and the removal of 1100 cc of fatty tissue. This achieved the desired definition that this patient was looking for.
Liposuction 30040
Age: 24
Note: This gentleman has signicant-sized breast tissue. This consists of mostly fatty tissue and not much gladular tissue. Liposuction was done with very good results.
